How to use it

Life journal user guide

A detailed guide to the MYWIE life journal: write a page, add photos, voice and music, browse the book, protect your memories, and understand each plan’s limits.

Updated: 20 August 2026

1. What the life journal is for

The MYWIE life journal is your digital book of life. Each memory becomes a page: a title, a story, a date, a place, a life period, and — if you wish — photos, videos, a voice note, a PDF or a piece of music.

This is not a public feed. It is a personal notebook, hosted in France, encrypted, with a timestamp on every save. Write at your own pace: a line in the evening, or a childhood chapter years later.

  • Capture the everyday (My day) as well as major memories (My journal).
  • Keep voices and faces, not only text.
  • Browse your story like a book, by life period.
  • Choose, page by page, whether a memory stays for you alone.

MYWIE also calls it an interactive journal or life journal: it is the same tool. “Journal de bord” here means My day + My journal together.

2. Two ways in, one journal

Everything you write lands on the same pages. Two paths exist, depending on the moment.

  • My day: today’s note. The date is today and cannot be changed. After sign-in, MYWIE may ask whether you want to write or complete that day.
  • My journal: all your pages in the interactive book (flipbook). Create a page for any date — a childhood memory or something from this week.
  • Both forms save a journal entry: title, story, period, place, private or shareable.

If you already wrote something today, My day shows that entry so you can edit it, or add another note for the same day.

3. Create, edit or delete a page

In My journal, “Create a new page” opens the form. Inside the book, you can also create a page for the period on screen.

  • Title: required, up to 200 characters. It appears in the book and in the memory count.
  • Story: free text, optional. You can come back later.
  • Life period: to file the memory (childhood, family, travel…).
  • Memory date: in My journal you pick the date. In My day it is fixed to today.
  • Place: optional (city, family home, trip…).
  • Private / shareable: a new page is private by default (only you). Uncheck to mark it “shareable with family”.

Saving creates the page and stores a timestamp. To edit or delete, open the page in the flipbook. Deletion is permanent: the story and attached media go with the page.

4. Life periods and the interactive book

Each page has a life period. The on-screen book (flipbook) has three chapters: Childhood, Adolescence, Adult life. More specific periods (working life, travel, retirement…) are filed under Adult.

  • Enfance
  • Adolescence
  • Jeunesse adulte
  • Vie professionnelle
  • Vie familiale
  • Voyages
  • Retraite
  • Autre

Click the cover to open the book, then turn the pages. A cover photo (your portrait, up to 50 MB: JPEG, PNG, WebP or GIF) personalises the front. Flipbook search finds a memory by keyword or date, including a year across all periods.

5. Photos, video, voice and documents

Once the page exists, open it in the book to add media. You can upload a file or record on the device (microphone, webcam) if the browser allows it.

  • Photos: as many as you want per page.
  • Videos: short or long, uploaded or recorded on the spot.
  • Audio: a voice note uploaded or recorded with the mic.
  • PDF: scanned documents (a letter, a certificate, a child’s drawing…).
  • Maximum file size: 1 GB. Other types are rejected.

You can remove a media file without deleting the page. Depending on the environment, an audio recording may be transcribed automatically (local tool, no public cloud). If transcription fails, the audio still stays on the page.

6. Music for a memory

A page can carry the track that “is” the memory: a wedding song, a radio theme, a childhood tune.

  • Paste a link from an accepted platform: Deezer, Radio France, PeerTube, BBC Sounds, Jamendo, among others.
  • Or upload an audio file (MP3, WAV, OGG, M4A, AAC, FLAC…).
  • Enter the track title; the artist is optional.

Playback opens the original platform, or plays the file you uploaded. Only import files you have the right to use privately.

7. Privacy and encryption

A new page is private by default. Only you see it in your journal. If you mark it “shareable with family”, you state that it is no longer for you alone, within your family space.

  • Hosted in France. AES-256 encryption at rest for the journal and media.
  • Zero-Knowledge (migration in progress): for new pages, the title and story can be encrypted in the browser. The server then cannot read the plaintext.
  • If encrypted pages no longer appear, sign out and sign back in with your password so reading keys are rebuilt in the browser.
  • Full opacity is not yet universal on the whole history: older pages may still be readable on the server until migrated.

MYWIE does not use your journal for advertising. Encryption and your rights are detailed in the privacy policy (encryption section).

8. A timestamp on every save

Each create or edit stores a timestamp. On My journal, the memory counter mentions it (“legal timestamp”).

  • It dates your writing: useful for you, and for the trace value you give your story.
  • It is not a notarised deed: it is a technical, timestamped record of the entry.

The memory date (the day you are writing about) and the save date (when you write) can differ: you can tell 1984 today.

9. Plans and limits

The journal is available from the Essentiel plan. Caps apply to the number of pages and overall account storage.

  • Essentiel (free): up to 20 journal pages, 500 MB storage.
  • Famille: unlimited journal pages, 50 GB storage, printed book and audiobook export.
  • Héritage: larger storage (200 GB) and broader transmission, according to the current offer.

If you reach 20 pages on Essentiel, a banner offers an upgrade to Famille. Existing pages stay. Current details are on the Pricing page.

10. Printed book and audiobook

From the Famille plan, you can compile a book from journal pages, and have some pages read aloud (audiobook).

  • You choose the pages and order, then preview the book.
  • Pages still in Zero-Knowledge cannot be read on the server for the audiobook: open them in My journal after unlocking, then export.

Book export is not included in Essentiel. A lock in the menu shows this when relevant.

11. Useful daily habits

A few habits keep the journal alive without making it a chore.

  • In the evening: My day, even three sentences. The book fills itself.
  • On a weekend: a childhood page with a scanned photo and, if you can, a voice.
  • A song: add it once the page already has a title, so you are not hunting for a link in the void.
  • Narrative AI (dedicated page): turn rough notes into a smoother story, then paste the text into the page. The AI does not write into the journal until you save.
  • Senior mode: larger text, dictation and read-aloud if you enable it in your space.

Other sections may drop a page into the journal (for example a personal reflection dated today). You will find it again in My journal like any other page.

12. Your rights, consent, deletion

You remain the owner of your pages. Nobody else can edit or erase your journal for you.

  • Sharing is never automatic: a new page is private.
  • Deleting a page is irreversible, including media.
  • You may export or request deletion of all your data under the service’s GDPR policy.
  • If a page no longer displays: sign in again; otherwise contact support.

This notice describes how the life journal works today. Screens may evolve; if in doubt, use the per-topic tutorial and support.

Go further

This notice covers the life journal only. Other MYWIE tools (tree, vault, scheduled messages) have their own steps in the tutorial.

Start with one page, even a short one

A title and a few lines are enough. You can add photos, voice and music later.
