Migration stories — user guide

Trace a journey as steps: place, country, year, narrative. A personal timeline, not a shared atlas.

Updated: 20 August 2026

1. What migration stories are for

You record steps: a place (required), a country, a four-digit year, a description. The list is your family’s journey as you tell it.

  • Account tool: your steps, not a world map edited by many.
  • The marketing page shows a sample OSM map; real steps are managed in My migration stories.

It is not an immigration case file.

2. Add, edit, delete

The form rejects an empty place. A filled year must be YYYY.

  • Zero-Knowledge: in-browser encryption of sensitive fields when the mode is on.
  • Edit via ?edit=, permanent step deletion.

Order steps as they make sense to you; the year helps sort them.

3. Plans

No Famille gate in the controller: the tool is tied to the account.

  • Available on Essentiel as shown in the UI.
  • The family map (geocoded OSM places) remains a separate Famille feature.

The two maps do not merge automatically.

4. Privacy

Places and narratives may be encrypted.

  • Hosting in France.
  • Only you edit your steps.

See the privacy policy.

Go further

This guide covers migration steps. The family map is for other places (home, holidays) without requiring a journey year.

One step, one place

Place is required. Year (YYYY) and narrative are optional.
