Family space — user guide

Create a named space and write messages: one space per account, not a public messenger.

Updated: 20 August 2026

1. What the family space is for

You create a named space, then post messages. It is not WhatsApp: in the current code each account has one space, and there is no invite flow to bring other accounts in.

  • Space name required at creation.
  • Messages: 5,000 characters (up to 20,000 if the body is a Zero-Knowledge blob).
  • Authors can be identified by account if they write to the same space_id — with no built-in invite yet.

Do not promise a “family video chat”: marketing may mention it; the tool stores text.

2. Create the space and write

If no space exists, the name form shows. Then the message field posts a new text.

  • A second space for the same account is not created: you are redirected to the existing one.
  • Empty messages are rejected.
  • Zero-Knowledge: in-browser encryption required when the mode is on.

For a note to one person by email, use virtual cards instead.

3. Plans

The family space is not a Famille gate in the controller (unlike the vault or the map).

  • Available with an account, including Essentiel, as shown in the UI.
  • Global storage still limits media elsewhere.

If the space fails to load, an error asks you to retry.

4. Privacy

Space name and messages may be encrypted (app vault / ZK).

  • Hosting in France.
  • No public listed room.
  • You see messages in your space.

See the privacy policy.

Go further

This guide covers the family message space. Virtual cards send a note by email, outside this space.

Name the space, then write

Default name: “Family” plus your name. One space per account in the current version.
